The above picture shows Paul and Sam, the Site Manager taking one last look at the cross before it is put back in to the roof space. In many ways this photo represents a large part of Phase 1 since you can also see the extensive timber work, insulation and the partially completed ceiling in the background. The picture below shows the cross being put safely back in to position before the rest of the ceiling is boarded up and with the addition of the names of all the craftsmen involved on this project. It’s rather nice to think that perhaps a later generation will one day discover the cross during their own project and wonder about all the people who have played a role in the history of St George’s.
